Tribute to Uwe Helmke

Uwe Helmke, a great scientist in Mathematical Systems Theory, esteemed colleague and dear friend for many attendees of MTNS, passed away completely unexpectedly in March 2016. A special session on Tuesday July the 12th, in the evening 6:10-8:10pm, recalls some of his manifold contributions as researcher and as organizer of workshops, conferences and research projects. Speakers in the session will be Frank Allgöwer (Stuttgart), Gunther Dirr (Würzburg), Giorgio Picci (Padova), Malcolm Smith (Cambridge), Erik Verriest (Atlanta) and Eva Zerz (Aachen). The session is organized by Lars Grüne (Bayreuth), Jochen Trumpf (Canberra) and Yutaka Yamamoto (Kyoto), who will also give brief talks.
